Also, my front stoop is various size rectangle stone looking pieces laid on sand and the polymeric sand grout always goes soft. What about adding portland to the polymeric or just mixing my own grout with sand and portland to make the grout lines more water resistant?

    Mike, I just formed an existing 200 sq.ft., 6" pad I had and put a 6"x10" deep stem wall around it for a garage addition, a two car into a three car garage. I drilled 9ea. 9"x36" deep footers with a 4ft. x 19ft walk way to connect the two garages(side by side). All formed up for a mono pour. Well the concrete truck showed up with 4" slump on a 93 degree day, tried to make it a 4" mix in the truck. Long story short when I pulled the forms there is pockets all along the side of the foundation! Can I use your "'plaster mix" to fill in the holes and paint to waterproof? There was 15# of fiber added to 3 Cubic Yards total pour(more like dough batter) of Concrete. Any Ideas to clean up this piss poor pour? Mitch in Nevada.

    2:00 There even seems to be a sturdy stone pulley. However, sadly, I do not see any ancient levitation devices, forklift trucks, helicopters, power plants, light bulbs or batteries... ;-) Instead, I see a stonemason talking about the stonemason's job and showing as he and other stonemasons do it. I am still just as impressed with the craftsmanship though. Many thanks! PS. They used bronze which is harder than clear copper and they could also use arsenical bronze and tinned bronze. Also, teak wood (one of the hardest hardwoods) is grown in Egypt up to this day and back in the day they were supposed to have plenty of wood too. They also used wooden pegs inserted into drilled holes and soaked with water to split big chunks.

    Always use rebar that is stainless steel (316 steel). They do not rust and will last forever. If you use mild steel rebar in a place that has moisture, it's your fault. It is dumb engineering to use mild steel in infrastructure projects, or a shady one where they want it to fail so it becomes a repeat work.

    • @MikeHaduck
      @MikeHaduck 4 дня назад

      Hi curio,, stainless last longer but as my buddy the plumber says going through concrete they corrode also, it just takes longer, I been experimenting with fiberglass for small stuff, the Roman's never used anything, thanks Mike

    • @curio78
      @curio78 4 дня назад

      @@MikeHaduck 316 stainless steel specifically resist chloride corrosion. The only reason for people to not use it, is because it's more expensive and it eats into margin. Stainless Steel of this type is meant for centuries of use. Using mild steel in bridges or high rise or other infrastructure projects is unjustified and just bad. You can look around and try to find any project that used such steel (stainless 304/316) that failed. You will not find any. Fiber glass does not even come close to steel, problem here is both lack of strength and negligible crack resistance, not to mention those enclosed in polymer stretches more leading to more cracks. I would say the solution to rust in rebar is simple and straightforward. Use 316 stainless steel rebar, it retains all the strength and none of the disadvantages. And to top it, use cement with a greater ratio of calcium oxide, so that when cracks do form from load stress, it simply auto heals. Like the roman cement.

      @MikeHaduck 4 дня назад

      @curio78 hi curio, here's my opinion with my 50 some years of experience, maybe you will agree, and you can look at my playlistvwith the pyramids, peru, castles, cathedrals, great wall etc, none of which had rebar, and they are still standing, my other opinion on the Roman concrete is, it would fall apart in the pennsylvania weather just as fast as anything they got today,, weather is a big big factor, I'll be in Rome Sept. God willing, thanks mike

    Hi Mike. Glad to see new content coming from you in your new home base in Florida. I’m up in your old state but I’m located in Northwestern PA. My question is about an outdoor concrete patio that I’m getting ready to pour at my camp. The only local ready mix company recently closed so I’m going to make my own concrete old school. I was planning to use a rich 1:2:2 mix with added fiber and liquid air admixture to help with freeze thaw. Do you recommend the 1:2:2 mix for this application in my area based on your experience in PA? Or would a 1:2:3 mix hold up to our winters ok too? Really value your thoughts on this one based on your real world experience especially in our climate up north in Pennsylvania.

    Excellent presentation, mentioning the old methods with the new methods . Mr. Haduck, please be careful with that fine dust cement as there were times in the video where it may have affected your breathing. Do be careful.. Thank you for submitting this video,

    Easily got my thumbs up! No stupid music, narrated by an actual person instead of lame/lazy AI, and we got to hear the actual sounds of the machinery, tools, processes, etc. Thank you!
